One of the most ingenious books I've ever read, fundamental and deep in all its simplicity and digestibility. This future scenario with a wholly credible and accurate scientific foundation has the reader immersed in its horrifying but credible world and the moral landscape it crestes in its inhabitants from the start. If you enjoy the kind of science fiction that makes you question everything you know about the universe, then the Three Body trilogy is a must for you. Incredibly beautifully written, I wanted to re-read many sentences just to savour their intricacy and diversity. Worth reading just for the unique style of writing which reflects a mindset different from the usual Western way of conceptualizing and looking at ourselves and the universe; the Chinese thinking underlying the character and plot development comes across as serene and unhurried but intense, metaphorical and philosophical while totally comprehensible and relatable, touching upon the core of relating to the universe and our species as a human with all the ecstacy and anxiety, complexity and simplicity it involves.
