Aaron delivers, as he has always done. Before the book was released Aaron said that it would go more personal and individual than the previous books, and it certainly does. I wasn't sure this would work with such an immense conflict but glad to report, it does. It works beautifully. Reality shattering battles are viewed from individuals, making them considerably more horrifying, more terrifying, more personal. The story builds and builds, the pacing excellent. I just couldn't stop reading. It roared ahead and pulled me with it! An excellent prologue to now, the final 3 books in this series.

A good story, on a character that sadly I hardly know. Of all the characters of the Horus Heresy, Garro is the one I'm least familiar with. However, this didn't stop me from enjoying this well written story and once again, feeling the emotion on every page. James does a fantastic job with this action packed tale. My only minor criticism is its length. I really wanted more but I understood why.

This series continues to deliver. Book after book the quality has, I'm glad to report, been maintained. I've enjoyed a lot of Chris's books and it was good to read his take on the ongoing saga. As is standard now the battle scenes were epic, the characters on both 'sides' relatable and understandable. The plot was detailed and the whole book read very well indeed. Excellent, as always.

An absolutely incredible book. Whilst I have enjoyed all 3 books of the 'liberation' trilogy this one in particular I must point out as the best of the 3. To cover so much detail yet remain so personal, so readable and such an enjoyable experience; that is a rare thing. Covering the final liberation of Europe and the end of the war, Rick once again proves himself a master of detail and description. This is a must for any history buff. Exceptional.

An excellent technical reference, full of diagrams and tank variant art. Of particular note is the excellent variety of camouflage schemes and variant technical details. An excellent reference book.

John French has done, yet again, an exceptional job. These books continue to storm toward their conclusion and the quality of the writing continues to be next level. It was shocking, emotional, exciting, twisting, mind-blowing. It took us forward in this epic tale in a wonderful manner. I go to the next book knowing the quality will continue. The pace and bar are well set!

This is an excellent book. Drawing on historical events and details, including the current 2022- 2023 war in Ukraine, this book is a must for anyone wishing to understand modern warfare. The author takes you through every aspect of fighting a modern war, including the all important aspects of the likes of training, logistics and just how modern armies fight. I particularly recommend it because it's written in a very accessible way. As the author writes, it is designed as a hand book for policy makers. Top marks.
