Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah
5.0
Both heartbreaking and hopeful. I love how Kristin Hannah’s books (the 3 I’ve read so far anyway) have themes of both choices and circumstances impacting future generations and forgiveness/redemption. The book (like her others) reminds me that when we better understand what others have gone through we have more compassion and take perceived slights less personally.

Loved it! The perfect fairy tale ending. I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5, because it was a little drawn out for me and I could have done with 100-200 fewer pages. I still very much enjoyed it and would recommend it.

I loved her down to Earth discussion of revelation and the role it plays in our individual lives.
Murder at Archly Manor by Sara Rosett

It was an okay mystery, but not a book I’d rave about. Definitely fun, but not as complex as I like characters and mysteries to be. I think I might have had too high of expectations going in and am eager to try the second book in the aeries and see how I feel about it.

This series is a bit addictive. The twist on fairy tales is fun and the story is action-packed.

This is the most relatable and entertaining work I’ve read on the Enneagram.

Cozy mysteries are my fav... especially British period mysteries. I’ve enjoyed the Maggie Hope mysteries over the years, but I didn’t love the last book in the series, so I was relieved that this book was another murder mystery (with national security implications, of course). I appreciated the way the the author addressed the psychological toll of Maggie’s childhood and work would have on her, but was a little annoyed that she suddenly decided to give up smoking, drinking, and risky behavior and that was it. It was a bit of an oversimplification. I look forward to the next book in the series.

I enjoyed this book very much. It was an easy rid that shed life on the villainess of the Lunar Chronicles evolved from a sweet princess to the evil Queen Levana.
