For this book I went in blind. I only knew that it was about aliens and written by the same author of Ready Player One. I really enjoyed that book so I tried not to compare these two together as objectively as I could while reading.

A lot of people are saying that the plot is a lot like Ender's Game, which I haven't read so I can't really complain about that. What I can complain about was that I feel like this would be much better suited towards a different medium, like film, because there were so many pages about drone battling and piloting that I ultimately skimmed over since I wanted to know more about the other characters or
SpoilerZack's violent background
. For example, in RP1 I instantly fell in love with Art3mis but Lex (in Armada) just didn't cut it for me. The characters felt a little too cliche and not developed enough.

I kept expecting more plot twists or pleasant surprises, like RP1, but I felt that most of them were predictable or cheesy (hint:

).

Another thing that bothered me were the geeky references. Sure, RP1 had those too but they felt well placed and witty. In Armada it felt like they were every other line, like it had to prove something or to showboat the author's knowledge of geek space pop culture, and it was distracting from the other sentences whether I understood them or not.

Overall, I still enjoyed reading the book and will definitely watch the movie if it ever gets made.

Had to stop reading at some parts (see: Eliza's sheer stupidity and apparent God complex) hence why it took me awhile to finish reading.

Although some plot points were kinda out there and some "twists" were obvious the book was saved by beautiful quotes about music and fate.
