Assembly was a nice debut novel, however the narration style was a bit chaotic at times, and left me feeling lost. Do think this was a good expose in regard to race, class, and societal standing in the UK, just the disjointed timelines and thoughts were a bit disillusioning.

This book is a nice warm hug wrapped in an apocalyptic retelling in the future. I loved the dynamic between Dex and Mosscap, and really identified with Dex’s feelings of isolation, being lost, and confused with finding “one’s purpose”.  Sometimes simple and short stories impact you the most!

I really REALLY enjoyed this book. I am a sucker for “dark academia”, Shakespeare, and murder mysteries, so this was very much up my alley. Loved the characters and the plot. Thought the twist was very Shakespearean-hence the book.

SIDE NOTE: Oh, how I would have LOVED to be witness to Dellecher’s Macbeth performance! I would give an arm and leg to see that in person! My mind was going crazy. Like GIVE ME PLEASE…
