What can I say about this book? I cried basically through the whole thing, heart on my sleeve, from joy and sorrow and grief and relief and all the other things this book has made me feel.

Hansel, my dearest beloved. Broken and battered and never the same but still trying, because you have to try.

And Cyril, bird boy, discovering the power of choices and of being in-between and not having to choose.

And finally to an ending and a future you couldn't imagine when you began.

One of the best things I have read in a long time

Phenomenal. The split timeline structure adds highlights the depth of pain and compassion that run side by side through this book

One of those books that I think is going to rewire my soul and live in my heart for a long time. Deeply kind and yet unflinching and ruthless in its honesty

Gorgeous, evocative and absolutely gore soaked. The terror and intimacy of consuming the other. Deep world building that trusts the audience.
