Tar Heels: North Carolina's Forgotton Economy: Pitch, Tar, Turpentine & Longleaf Pines by Kent Wrench
4.0
Quick read. Great reference tool as a starting point. As it was self-published, it’s a labor of love, but not perfection. Lots of editing mistakes and severs redundancies. But, if you need to quick overview in less than 2 hours of time, this is a great place to start.
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

I cannot compete with more complex reviews/comments. I can only remark that after 30+ years of having read this the first time, I lament forgetting the beauty and grace of Harper Lee’s words. I wish I could have had this possess me through my young and middle adulthood. There is nothing with the power and force quite like this.
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving

Not so much a gripping take of horror and dread but more of the post-revolutionary landscape and the peculiarities of its characters. The “legend” itself only figures for a handful of the story’s pages.
