I really enjoyed this book! Loved the renaissance vibes. Don’t know why there is a sequel when this book ends off really well? I won’t be reading it

At times I was tired of the continuous road blocks that occurred. But despite the annoyance, I loved the romance and the closure

I liked the mix of WWII and fantasy elements. 60% through I was confused how there was a sequel so I read the synopsis of the second book to understand. I enjoyed the original lore and mythology that was woven in. Excited to read the sequel

This book was so fantastic. I felt as though I was reading a prequel and the sequel at the same time, and it didn't distract from the story, it added to it exponentially.

Okay, so I do think I preferred this trilogy to Caraval, but I don’t think I like how Garber rights (most) of her main characters. I did grow to like Evangeline by the middle of this book but it should not take three books for that to happen. I do however understand everyone’s obsession with the series because Jacks is a fantastic character. So many things were predictable and not shocking but I still was waiting for a happily ever after and desiring to flesh out the story

This one gets a higher rating than the first because I absolutely love Jacks. However, I still want to give it a low rating because I still dislike Evangeline and the story felt like it kept going in circles. I did not expect that ending though!

I wanted to give this a lower rating because Evangeline is such a bland a naive character but I still wanted to finish the book so it clearly captivated me despite her

Well that was a unique and enticing read! The magic was fascinating and the plot twists, though quite predictable, add good layers to the story.
