The Complete Maus: A Survivor's Tale by Art Spiegelman

This is not the first time I've read this story, but it was the first time that I read it after gaining some understanding of what trauma does to a person and to their family - and that understanding helped me to appreciate the nuanced and creative multilayered story that is Maus. I think this is one of the most accessible accounts about the Holocaust because you're along with the author on the ride and discovery of his father's story. You're both experiencing and reacting to that through the pages which - I think - can help people understand what survivors children and tangential relationships go through and how they change after a tragedy.

Great fantasy rom-com that was easy to read, had a lovely humorous tone, and great characters.
