Yeah, so this book’s basically ilooklikelilbil but whiter, older and more misogynistic.

The protagonist comes across as a wanna be tough guy who’s much more into trying to hook up with the attractive-but-troubled female lead than finding the person who killed his brother. The usage of a newspaper reporter is novel for the first 100 pages but McCevoy’s character is so unlikeable and caked with tumblr-Esque faux profundity that by the end the reader is much more likely to laugh at the absurdity of his actions rather than be drawn in by the intended climax. Also, the plot is kind of dumb and has a nonsensical ending. Very few female characters and the ones that do exist are basically all labeled as “attractive in a ______ way” or “unattractive”. That said, quick read, kind of fun, 2.5/5 stars.
