Turn Coat by Jim Butcher
Butcher does a good job weaving story lines together, keeping the main plot of each book up front, and yet telling a bigger story that always lurks in the background. This one was entertaining.
Dead and Alive: Obedience and the New Man by Jim Wilson
An instructive read, and a lesson in having child-like faith. Good stuff.
Cathedral by Raymond Carver
I read the first short story in this collection about twenty years ago and I have never gotten it out of my head. I finally read the whole collection and now I will be haunted by Carver’s tales for the rest of my life. I think these are top notch.
The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls: The Beginning, Book 1 by M. J. Thomas
My youngest daughter read this to me, and it is a good early reader. We enjoyed it and will read the next.
Till We Have Faces: A Myth Retold by C.S. Lewis
I don’t get why this is Lewis’ favorite book he had written, but that’s because I’m an idiot. Worth reading though!
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark: Three Books to Chill Your Bones: All 3 Scary Stories Books with the Original Art! by Alvin Schwartz
I remember these from when I was a kid, and I reread them this year. I think my favorite part is the art work.
Why Children are Welcome to the Lord's Supper by Jeffrey J. Meyers
A very helpful resource. Buy ten and hand them out.
