I have mixed feelings about this book. I started reading the book only having seen the front cover. The front cover is misleading, this is not a trapped group of people trying to discover the murderer. This is not a narrow genre book, some have regarded it as horror while I would say thriller. There are interesting story points in the latter half that are well told and give a desire to read more. I would put this book in the "better than other mediocre books" category.
While there are helpful comments in this volume it often feels like style over substance. There is absolutely useful information but many of the points are probably discussed in blog posts. While the book boasts a page count of 272 pages there is probably around 70 pages of content.
There is a no disputing the excellence of Stephen King but while I can appreciate his skill this book is not a favourite. For anyone who likes a world being built with clear details and you are patient enough to wade this is one for you. Slightly violent in parts. Definitely not for kids.
