Amazing Spider-Man: Edge of Spider-Verse
Jason Latour, Clay McLeod Chapman, Dustin Weaver, Robbi Rodriguez, David Hine, Fabrice Sapolsky, Gerard Way, Jake Wyatt, Elia Bonetti, Richard Isanove
These stories were hit and miss, but it's clear why Spider-Gwen instantly became so popular. And the horror themed issue really freaked me out. A nice one to end on.
I view this as kind of a short story, so in that way it is hard to compare to the rest of Rowell's work. What is undeniable is her great characterization and smart storytelling style. This is the fourth book of hers I have read this year and this has cemented her as a favorite author of mine.
This is the first of the new Star Wars comics that I have read. This is a fun little mini series that puts the focus on Alderaan and Leia's response to its destruction.
The art in this book is even more jaw dropping than the twists.
A fun summer book of nostalgia, broken hearts, first times, heroics, and horror.
Thor, Volume 2: Who Holds the Hammer?
Jason Aaron, ND Stevenson, Marguerite Sauvage, Jorge Molina, Timothy Truman, Rob Guillory, C.M. Punk, Russell Dauterman
The momentum is building much more in this than in Vol. 1, and this Thor is an insanely compelling character. Still feels like we are in the prologue though, and this volume is quite short. I loved the future Thor part of the Annual though. Bring on Volume 3!
Well, this just keeps being the most original and surprising comic series around.
