Hard to summarize some of the best comic arcs in history, but the art is still incredible and it's full of great little gifts for X-Men fans
One of the most unnerving books I've ever read. Fiction can take you anywhere, anytime, any place. But this story for the most part adheres to an unsettling reality. Things occur that feel very much like they could happen to you. They're just slightly...off. The mystery slowly grows more and more until you're begging for resolution. The book relies heavily on dialogue, and the back and forth between the characters along with the creeping dread makes for a very quick read. Don't take some of the low ratings to mean that you won't like this book. It's worth discovering for yourself.
Not the Mary I was expecting, but a story that I wish I would have read as a child as it is so full of imagination, and would have gone nicely with the British series I was reading back then, the Chronicles of Narnia.
An exhilarating read with one of the most compelling protagonists I've encountered in years. A journey towards self improvement has never felt as honest, funny, or heartbreaking.
This was...fine. I'm honestly quite tired of the chase quest thing so many of these fantasy books are doing. The beginnings of these stories are allowed to world build and create intrigue, but once the plot turns to "bring magic filled Macguffin from point A to B" the world actually seems to shrink because there's no longer any time to stop and explore it. And with that breakneck pace, there also isn't any time for the characters to evolve. For example, we have to be told how close one of the protagonists is to his adoptive brother, because they sure don't get to spend any quality time together in the actual story. I don't know, it's not horrible, it just seems like it's already been cut down to the 110 minute film it will eventually be adapted to.
The Targs were a wild ol bunch. It's fascinating to read such a comprehensive "history" and see how smaller events and decisions can ripple out and affect a dynasty.
The ratings I give for this series are basically ceremonial at this point cause I would never disrespect my best friends, Susan, Esther, and Daisy, with anything other than 5 stars.
