perfect airport reading! read fast and intriguing. but ultimately not a lasting impactful novel, already fading from my mind as I read the last few pages.

Beck is alright but in terms of miserable European detectives I prefer Wallander. Pretty forgettable but nothing awful.

as a lover of haunted house stories, this might be my new fave haunted house story. especially a fan of the southern gothic element. savored this one over a couple of days.

kind of in love with this novel for its "used book sale beat-up dollar paperback" vibe. weird and bizarre and i enjoyed it a lot

after languishing in my to-read pile for nearly 3 years......yeah this one was good.

even though i've read the sequels, i didn't think they actually added much and i kind of regret reading them. to me, area x's mysteries are more beautiful and terrible the less you know.

this story has spent years alongside me, each rewatch elevated each time by the new knowledge about the world and myself i was bringing to it. reading the script added another layer of love i have for 아가씨.

re-read through audiobook (narr. Frank Muller) and yeah. honestly its flaws and high points are more defined upon re-read, but the highs really just sing. i ended up rooting for hannibal a lot more this time, tbh. crawford is a sketch but a highly compelling one. clarice is always fun. ardelia <3. this novel scratches the itch every time. might go on to the next book despite previous disinterest.

Did not finish book.
I really wanted to like this novel, I was a huge fan of My Heart is a Chainsaw and this experience with this specific book isn't going to deter me from continuing to read his stuff! I got through about 60% of this book, enjoying it alright, before the prose started to spectacularly grate on me. The constant one-sentence paragraphs began to actively hinder me from enjoying and understanding it and just had to stop.

still my goat though
