My only regret is not reading this the second I came into possession of this book and instead let it sit in my to-read shelf for 6 months. Coates singlehandedly shares the harsh reality that POC experience in navigating spaces and social situations. His continued thesis of Dreamers being a hindrance to POC and theirs struggles really highlights the elevation of black respectability by white people who call for “peaceful protests” and I urge anyone looking to expand their perspective to read this book, you won’t want to put it down.

Audiobook listen. I will forever cherish the story of Henrietta Wood. McDaniel succinctly tells it and all the complexities of everyone she met while synthesizing a story of justice, restitution, and the concept of freedom. Truly worth the Pulitzer Prize it won and a book I recommend to all.

In three separate case studies, Turek succinctly demonstrates the grassroots and popular influence of evangelicals on US foreign policy as domestic and international actors. Turek, looking at various denominations and evangelicals organizations, shows just how far reaching evangelical attempts were at their globalizing mission and expanding their human rights agenda. A good read for anyone interested in US Cold War, studying grassroots movements, or for those who ever wondered what is the recent historical context of missionary trips.
