One of the better stories in this cheesy and entertaining mystery series. More mystery than lore and back story

Historical fiction magical realism war story romance. A neat combination of genres that make for an interesting and unique read. The first book was more engaging than the 2nd. But this is an excellent follow up novel. Will look out for more from Ross.

I don't know if I've said that the nod of the book was both dark and light hearted, but this is both. It's cheeky and adventurous epic pilgrimage and contest with lots of battles and different creatures. Entertaining.

Felt like it was historical fiction taking place in England during WWII, but it's magical realism fantasy and I liked it. Book 2 should be interesting.

I will come back to this book. Just wasn't the right head space to focus on this story with intricate world building and lore

Fake dating adjacent with a lot less of the ridiculousness that typically comes with that storyline but adds in some of its own twists. Racy. Witchy. Entertaining. Peru good for the third in a series.

Surprisingly I didn't love this book. I normally love books about strong women who push back on societal norms, but I just didn't connect with this one.

Are they really 9 strangers if there is a family of 3 and a married couple? Or maybe they are trying to hide so much of themselves they are strangers... Huh...

As a member of generation X, I didn't know of Cher in this phase of her life so it was fascinating to learn about where she came from, what she endured, the missteps she made and the ways she persevered.

In the audiobook, the narration switches between Cher herself and Stephanie J. Block.  Cher explains that it will happen throughout the book. At first it was jarring, but then it just blends in.
