I actually enjoyed this a lot but the third act break up was so stupid 😭 man got off way too easy imo after not communicating 🙄 and also, why whyyyyyyyyy do 99% of romance authors these days feel the need to add the good girl dirty talk stuff. Get it AWAY from me please 🙃 I was sitting at a solid 4 ⭐️ before I got to that part and had to deduct half a star for it. Can someone make me a list of romance authors that don’t do this? Like, you just never know these days when you start a romance book 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m not against smut, absolutely not, but just don’t jump scare me with the cringy dirty talk 💀

Wow, this book! I enjoyed the writing style so, so much 🫶🏼 I read Cleopatra and Frankenstein before this and enjoyed it, but this is on another level! Definitely want to read more by Coco Mellors. There’s something about the way she writes characters that just makes them real people.

The way this talks about sisters and mothers and love and grief is so poignant. As someone who doesn’t have any sisters I think that I now know what it feels like to have them and be one. And even though I just have a brother, I am an eldest daughter, so I could definitely relate there.

When Avery is talking about her grief for Nicky it made me think of this quote from Wandavision: ’What is grief if not love persevering?’

(also! that last paragraph! on the last page! wow 😭)

Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy this as much as the first one 😭 maybe my expectations were too high? Still really looking forward to reading the next instalment because I love Galen’s character!
