an interesting pre-Austen novel that, I think, takes a grittier approach to a woman’s experience in British society. more coming of age than romance, with surprising moments of danger.

a middlegrade fantasy retelling of Les Miserables. great story, great world building, but the ending felt a bit rushed.
this books was really cute! it’s told in dual perspective, and each character has their own complex histories outside of the romcom plot that make the story more emotional. i just wish they had gotten to the feelings part a bit earlier, it felt like the “i’ll help you get the girl” part was a bit too drawn out before alex and molly start to have feelings. but a cute YA romcom set in college is always a fun read

YEAH. i prefer this book immensely over the straight film adaptations. the cast of resistance characters outside of the main movie characters is immensely rich and it builds such a greater sense of a massive galaxy. and for the familiar characters, namely poe and leia, this story just shows how much development is possible in a star wars story when they’re not trying to follow a scene by scene breakdown of a movie. more rose, rey, jess, and connix was NEEDED in this book. the action is fast paced and pretty entertaining. plus for the black squadron content. also it felt like poe was flirting with finn in this story but maybe i’m just projecting?? a solid and fun action read regardless!

so that was traumatizing. but also incredibly suspenseful, with interesting parallels between the narrators who are on the surface level so different, and lots of imagery of fog (in the air and in the mind). deeply flawed characters, lots of violence, and a tragic story. but worth the read!

i loved this little graphic memoir so much!! perfect for anyone currently growing up, or who remembers just how tough it was. loved all the content about what it was like to be a middle school beatles super fan. this is such a special read
works so well as a direct response to little house on the prairie, with the imagining how a half-Chinese girl would experience life on the prairie. great characters and such a good middle grade read <3
interesting in the sense of being a look at a pre-Austen female author, and the first major female author to write for serial publication, but ultimately underwhelming. one dimensional characters, a dull narrator, and (sorry sophia) not an engaging protagonist. ends the way you think, but not without some twists first!
