Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez

I was very into it but then i just lost it, sadly. i don’t even know at witch point i just didn’t care for the book anymore, maybe halfway through or maybe like at 75% when she just lost her mind.. it was hard to finish after that (i honestly was screaming GET HELP!! GO TO THERAPY!!) (also glad she at least did at the end) anyways.. i loved Jacob, what a character, what. a. man., and please don’t even get me started about his dog. Brianna, i struggled with Brianna but i liked her ALMOST at the whole book. now the romance: that was cute, like please lord they were comfortable in the quiet!! i’m a strong believer that u need to be 100% comfortable in the silent with your partner, like a truce of being harmless to each other *wink wink*. also, anxiety was a main focus in this book, i personally think that the author did a pretty good job portraying what it is to live with anxiety. i also think that there was so much miscommunication that lead into to much unnecessary problems, it did bother me. the pacing was off, and the ending felt very VERY rushed, too many things happening on the last 40 pages and no time to clear everything. so, i expected more from the hype and didn’t ended up getting it.

So, before we start let me tell you that this is a book I read last year, and since I thought about it this past week I thought it would be cute to make a post for this one. But apparently my goodreads review consisted of this:
“𝗺𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀, 𝗺𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁” 𝗜 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘 𝘁𝗵𝗲 “𝗺𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗳𝗲” 𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲.
𝗼𝗵 𝗺𝗮𝗻, 𝗡𝗼𝗮𝗵 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱 “𝗺𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗳𝗲” 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗲. 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽 𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝟳𝟬 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲… 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗴𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻.
And that was it… which trust me, it pretty much sums up the entire story 😂 BUT I’m gonna add some things here:
This was so freaking cute, I mean.. this guy (Noah) had a HUGE crush on her (Shay) on high school. And now he’s all grown up and he offers to help her out with her inheritance BY MARRYING HER 🚨 And that’s how you should feel sold on this book. But I’m gonna tell you more..
Shay and Noah had so much chemistry, they were so funny and cute together all the time. It’s SO lovely when he finally gets to come clean on loving her for so long 🥹🫶🏻
And the side characters were a literal chef kiss.
📌 When I tell you I became obsessed with this one, I’m not kidding one bit. It’s just so funny and it’s such a beautiful story, with great plot and greatest moments and characters that you end up loving so much.
And even if I’m not selling you yet with all of this, let me also say that there’s a Tulip Farm 🌷 in this book. That’s it, thank you for reading this review and I’ll be waiting to hear from y’all when you read this 🫡😋

There was no development in the relationship between the main characters, they just jumped to love each other out of nowhere. we didn’t get much of the background story about the main character and her father or about their relationship (even tho our male main character was absolutely judging the hell out of her from the very beginning about that). there wasn’t even much about anyone, i get the book was short but it felt empty tbh, i couldn’t connect with it. the only thing that saved the very VERY low score was Faith (thank god for her)

I was left unsatisfied. probably just wasn’t what i expected..? there’s so much going on through the story; the ex-boyfriend, the brother, the work, the search of Johnny White.. everything is so tangled. it was exhausting honestly, there were times when i couldn’t go on and deliberately had to stop reading. i also didn’t liked much the writing style (but that’s a me thing). i did loved the post it notes between the main characters. that’s pretty much everything i liked.. it’s not a bad story but it just wasn’t for me.

Very short, extra points for that 😂
it was good, tho the relationship was a little fast paced for me (i have no knowledge if that is just the writers style, as this is the first book of her that i ever read).. but the story was good; Aurora’s background was very well explained and there where no doubt’s about it, same with Nick. it was heartwarming and cute, it is definitely a recommendation if you want a short clean sweet with little spice romance.

Omg this was so cute!! there is NO third act, thank god.
it is a slow-burning/slow paced kinda romance. there’s so much going on in the spare of a few days/weeks.
I WISH we had a Brett pov because WHAT. A. MAN., would’ve been wonderful to be able to read his thoughts actually.. he was so caring, so sweet, so thoughtful, so understanding, god that guy didn’t have any flaws to point at!! he really got me giggling like a teenager when he exposed his feelings, his choice of words were honestly chef-kiss 🤌🏻 Cath was one of the best female characters i’ve read about tbh, she didn’t caused too much drama as usually MFC do, she was actually okay.. (considering how her life was daily and what she’s been through).
i didn’t expect to like the book so much!! it’s well written and the characters are lovable.

This started so high and then it just 💀
i like love at first sight but not this kind apparently.. i couldn’t connect with any of the main characters, if i’m being honest i didn’t even liked them much.
another thing: the amount of nicknames that are not only explained but used all the time it felt SO chapter filler that killed so many scenes. i lost interest very quickly.
main issue: the dirty talk, i have NOTHING against dirty talk but jesus this was way to hard to digest. i don’t know if it is bc i was already not liking the story at that point or what but i skipped so much of the story because of the sex and dirty talk involved.
didn’t helped either: the pacing, the storyline just jumped over and over without warnings, i had to read several lines to understand that it was placed weeks after.
the conflict with Lydia’s mother in law never got resolved..
anyways it was a big no for me.

Fun, short, witchy. all i needed. idk if it is because it’s october and i’m just loving the halloween vibes, or i just simply liked the book but i give it a solid 4. i liked the story, the main characters (both of them), the background story, how it was written, how it all played out. there was no third act, nor drama of any kind actually and it was very sweet in some ways (mostly at the very end). i haven’t read the ex hex (will do eventually) but i didn’t feel like i needed to to understand the story, it was very well shortly described through this book the main events in the previous book of the series. i do think that the end was a little bit rushed and i waited for an epilogue but anyways. very nice overall.
ps: my rate criteria can probably be affected by my actual mood this time.

It was okay..
the humor probably got me going. it was a bit hard to keep reading when i hit like 50% of the book, gotta confess that 😅😂 but i really wanted to know so badly what was the end of the bargain so i finished it 😎 i’m not even a little bit disappointed with how things played out for the story, that resolution was good at my eyes.
no complaining.
it did killed me though all the fcking shit that our FMC had to go through with her shitty family (got me pulling my hair pretty hard with anger), and the fact that we did in fact had a third act breakup (which i found to be completely unnecessary) 😩
the book wasn’t probably a good fit for me (and my kind of reading) but anyways i liked the writing style of the author and the comedy side that she put into it.
