Listen, I don’t want kids. But if I do become a father, you bet your ass this is the first book teed up for bedtime stories that I’m reading them.

Bought this special edition after finishing the hobbit (which a friend had gifted me) and decided to read it all (for the first time) in time for the rerelease of the 4k remaster in theaters this weekend. Can’t believe it took me this long to read these, they are truly magic. Tolkien is a genius and I completely understand why I’ve been such a big fan of this world and these characters (thanks to the movies). LOTR has my whole heart and I’m glad I get to live in a world where it exists

Finally finished my re-read of the entire series (for the first time since my first ever read) and it only took me like 2 years. I think there’s something to be said about my inability to put this one down since starting it.

I started bringing this book with me to work to read on my breaks and my boss looked at me one day and went: “wow, no wonder you hate CEOs so much.”

The coolest thing you can do is introduce a pretty dip magic system that actually has rules and makes sense and then follow that by introducing a second main character who is just a normal guy and have that part of the story be more interesting and compelling while your actual main character goes on a full blown training arc with DRAGONS AND ELVES.
Throughly enjoyed this one a lot more on this reread as it was cool seeing that Paolini was actually setting up concepts that we wouldn’t see play out until the next two books.

Decided to reread these for the first time since I was a kid and I love that this is so blatantly just a perfect mix of LOTR and Star Wars and I mean that as a compliment.
