I’ll leave you to read the general premise yourself and just jump straight to the fun bits because I LOVED this book and it’s story!

What I Loved:
  • I listened to this on audio and the narrator was absolutely fantastic doing all the voices for the characters and really setting the stage for an immersive storytelling experience.
  • I loved how much this reminded me a bit like a mashup of Good Omens meets Lud-in-the-Mist. I found myself grinning so much of the time — there’s so much humor and nonsense and quirk!
  • I loved all the fantastical elements — goblins, elves, magic, warring kingdoms.
  • I especially love the two main characters and their constant misunderstandings and bickerings. Everything about who they are is so hilarious but also endearing.
  • I especially loved all the constant and unending mishaps as the story progresses. Nothing goes right from the start for anyone involved and it’s just one thing after another.
  • I loved most that this was such a fun place and story to just fall into. As an almost pure escapist, this book really hit on everything that I love, and I truly escaped into the narrative when I was listening to this book.

What I Didn’t Love:
  • Absolutely nothing. I only wish that there had been more. This is by far a favorite read for the year and might just got on the “favorites of all time” list!

Overall:
I really, really loved this book. This was SUCH a fun read and truly found myself grinning and giggling throughout the entire story. The audiobook is read by Gildart Jackson (who’s got a fantastic British accent), and he did such a phenomenal job of casting the characters’ voices so perfectly and making the storytelling process an immersive experience for the listener. I highly recommend this for readers of all ages!

I listened to this graphic novel on audio which incorporated a full cast, and it was incredibly well done! Highly recommend this realistic fiction graphic novel to middle grade and YA readers; they’ll identify with big themes like identity, growing up, etc.

Absolutely adorable and heartwarming. I listened to this one on audio and the narrator did a phenomenal job. I don’t usually read middle grade or children’s fiction on the reg, but this was truly a sweet read.
