I finished this book with an heavy (but still somehow light) heart; to the ones whose place will always be empty: love and memory will keep it full in your stead.

Man, this was morbid even for an Animorphs book.

Oh my god, I can't believe I've finished it.
Some kind of curse got put upon me: I couldn't read this book without falling asleep. At last, my post-work insomnia did something right, thank you.

Anyway, I found the narrator the best part of this book. The writing style worked really well with the worldbuilding, but the characters and the romance really fell flat. I simply couldn't believe those two were in love with each other. In lust, maybe, but love? Why????

The rest of the cast vexed me and amused me in turn, with the vexing being way more prominent, sadly. I'm looking at you, Miss Bickle.

The plot was basically what kept me reading (I found the half-point climax really cool), but it felt really rushed at the end.

This seems to be a tale of wasted potential, dear reader.
