i picked up this book in 2019 in a small bookshop, intrigued by the title and the original cover, not too sure what to expect but the synoposis was right up my alley. i could not have anticipated the affect this book was going to have on me. despite its many skeptical reviews i will stand by this book til the day i die. yes, this book was frustrating in that the characters were constantly in miscommunication, not able to truly be on the same page, but i feel like that is what makes it so good. they were so painfully HUMAN, and not only trying to understand their feelings of the other but ultimately of themselves. their connection to one another, albeit messy, is magnetic, vulnerable, sensual, and full of yearning. they both grow individually exponentially because of it, and the story beautifully portrays that impact we humans have on another soul, and that is what makes it a worthwhile read.
