My Booky Wook by Russell Brand
1.0
Maybe if I was from the UK and actually understook 1/3 of this book, it'd get higher marks. the ever present cultural references are lost on me as is local slang and Russell's way of writing (exactly as he speaks).
I grew frustrated constantly looking words up and referencing footnotes. That plus the fact that I found the book boring meant I didn't finish it.

The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella
4.0
I've read 4 other Sophie Kinsella books previously and genuinely believe this one is the best. Unlike the abysmal (bu addictive) Shopaholic franchise, this book is well written, ironic and has a greatly unexpected ending.
It'll be hard for her to top this.

1Q84 by Haruki Murakami
5.0
This version is actually 3 volumes/books in one. It is an immense undertaking and requires the patience to read it all the way through. Unlike many other stories it's hard to classify. Is it romance? Is it mystery? Is it suspense? Science fiction?
Yes.
It's an incredibly well written book and translation that answers questions the way a book should: teased out over time. Many clues are given to the reader but not the main characters full intent until the very last few pages. The ending is not contrived or trite in any sense and every character introduced into the book is purposeful and does his/her duty to the utmost ability.
It's a readers book as much as it is a writers book. Quality stuff here.
I plan on reading other Murakami works to see if anything can top this Magnum Opus.
