miscommunication trope sucks ass but…this was still (surprisingly) pretty well written for a sports romance.

minimal cringe, decent dialogue, the characters weren’t insufferable.

bare fucking minimum you would think right? WRONG

negative points for the nickname tho. straight to jail.

back trying to find a dark romance that doesn’t make me want to blend my brain.
this was fine.

the fantasy/horror elements made it interesting enough to keep reading, as per usual the spice was unnecessary and the pet names made me sick.

So much to say so little energy after this shit show to type.

Let’s start with how horribly this was handled. The care that went into books 3 and 4? TOSSED OUT THE FUCKIN WINDOW.
it was such a sensitive topic and it was rushed as fuck. unresolved. the messages were really fucking screwed - like the brushing off of SA and the way claire and lizzie act. madness.

the way this group treats gibsie pisses me the fuck off. lizzie is a fucking horrible piece of work, even without the context of this book added, and how they all let her get away with literally horrifically bullying one of their friends is madness. bro even CLAIRE who supposedly loves gibsie is willing to forget that lizzie jokes and taunts him about his dead baby sister!! are you genuinely serious like omfg

everyone pissed me off. all of them. we don’t need shannon to be playing devils advocate constantly, and if anything she should fucking know better then to ‘i’m not picking sides i love everyone’ when someone fucking verbally abuses someone else.

claire drove me nuts. the way she fucking shares that very SENSITIVE information is fucked and she’s not even sorry about it. and it’s brushed off as if she was doing the right thing. what she did was unforgivable and someone needed to smack some sense into her.

the shit with dee??? handled horrifically
bro everything was just handled horribly in this book - for such a sensitive topic it was rushed and messy and had no care or consideration put into it by the author.

in terms of the book timeline -there was so many time skips and jumps. we missed a bunch of important shit and like basic relationship building. it was very “here’s the plot points we need to hit let’s just bullet point chapters and get it over with”.

we got so little actual relationship between claire and gibsie it didn’t even feel like their book. all of their childhood friends to lovers development was skipped. the dialogue, also, was terrible. the dynamic between them was so so not like the other four books and was very OOC. it was so insanely cringey that i couldn’t even enjoy them being cute because it felt so stiff. partly due to the TIME SKIPS.

i don’t want to fucking carry on with this lizzie shit to be honest, she’s just a horrible person and i don’t care for her character arc or any future book with her as the fmc. she’s not redeemable at all.

so over all. the characters were not at all themselves, the story was handled horribly, the pacing was rushed, the plot was all over the place and i was thoroughly fucked off at the end.

really really disappointing considering i was so excited for gibsie and claire - this was just a train wreck

No cos this fucking series low-key eats.
I hate to say it, because i’m the biggest hater at heart but bro…i gobbled this shit down like the most delectable dinner.

The first two books - were they good? no
did i fucking love them anyway - absolutely

This book was both good AND i loved it. Didn’t expect that.

However side note - WHY DO ALL THE MAIN COUPLES LOOK EXACTLY ALIKE. It’s genuinely driving me up the fucking wall. Johnny and Shannon? both brown hair and blue eyes. Little strange but whatever i’ll move past it. Joey and Aoife? both blonde hair and green eyes. this is fucking weird now bro why are all these couples RELATED. ITS SET IN IRELAND NOT ALABAMA FFS. And i’m pretty fuckin sure the next couple is Gibsie and Claire and ISTG they’re both blonde with brown eyes.
WHY ARE THEY FUCKING THEIR RELATIONS PLS MAKE IT STOP.
