An illuminating reflection on knowledge, tied to an intriguing murder mystery! This book provides insights into differing opinions on all matters mortal and spiritual, all at least partially stemming from characters' perception of education, cognition and the scientific method. However, since it's told alongside an engaging  plot, even if you're not interested in philosophical or theological arguments you can still enjoy an enticing recounting of Adso and Wilhelm's quest to uncover the secrets of the monastery.

I have only read it once, but i believe i will find even more fascinating aspects upon rereading. Highly recommend, but, reciting the sentiment of the author: if the first 100 pages are a slog to you, you probably won't enjoy the book in general.
