Mini Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella
4.0
I had a hard time getting into this book because I really was hoping that Becky had grown up a bit now that she had a daughter. I was hoping she would have a better head on her shoulders and I was frustrated a bit with how she had not only not changed but now she was teaching these selfish behaviors to her 2 year old daughter.
But I stuck with it because Sophie Kinsella tells a funny story. While far fetched, this installment of Shopaholic was in the same theme and tempo of the proceeding Shopaholic stories.
Before long I was rolling my eyes, shaking my head, and laughing out loud at Becky's antics. Overall I did enjoy this book. I just keep hoping that Becky will learn from her mistakes!
I recommend this book if you are looking for a far fetched, light hearted chick lit book.

One for the Money by Janet Evanovich

I have been looking at this series and considering if I should read it for a long time now. I thought it looked like something I would enjoy but the sheer number of books was daunting. I put them all on my to read list but never felt the pull to dive in.
Until a few days ago. I down loaded One For The Money onto my iPod via audible.com and started listening to Stephanie Plum's struggle to over come her new found poverty status. I was hooked very quickly and found myself listening to the book every moment I could find.
I am now very excited to dive into book two!

Two for the Dough by Janet Evanovich
4.0
I just love Stephanie Plum! This book finds her trying to track down the cousin of Joe Morelli who skipped his hearing. It was supposed to be a simple pick up but it turned into a cat and mouse game involving a lot of severed body parts turning up in Stephanie's possession. Fun, fast, and funny read. I will be starting on Book 3 today!
The Long Way Home by Karen McQuestion
4.0
Karen delivered again! In the tradition of her previous novels, this book brings four very different women at different stages in live together for an adventure. In this book the women embark on a road trip from WI to Las Vegas together but all for different reasons.
I enjoyed following the ride and watching the stories unfold. I stumbled across Karen McQuestion's writing one day about a year ago when I found on of her book available on the Kindle for $1. I was instantly hooked and she is now one author I find myself longing for her new releases, and this one was worth the wait! Thanks Karen!!

Bad Kitty for President by Nick Bruel
5.0
We LOVE Bad Kitty! Heidi and I both loved this book for so many reasons but the two biggest being it was very funny and educational.
Kitty is not happy with the strays on the block and wants to ban them. She learns Old Kitty is about to end her term as block President so Kitty's owner talks her into running for President. The book walks through the election with educational inserts from the every favorite Uncle Murry and an index of terms that did a fantastic job breaking down difficult words to a 7 year old level.
Bad Kitty is always a favorite in this house!

Three to Get Deadly by Janet Evanovich

This Stephanie adventure follows Stephanie and her retired hooker friend while they look for a bail jumper who is also a local celebrity of sorts. Uncle Moe is the owner of a candy store in the Berg and no one can imagine why he would do something bad. So why did he jump bail. A fast, fun story with a huge ending just as one will come to expect from Janet Evanovich!
Clementine's Letter by Sara Pennypacker
5.0
I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love Clementine! The best part is that Heidi loves her too and we enjoy reading her stories before bed each night. She begs me for more chapters and even agreed to go to be 15 minutes early tonight so we could finish the book.
In this adventure Clementine learns the ever important lesson of thinking before she acts. She knows it is hard but she is working very hard at it. And when she fails she does a wonderful job of making up for her mistake. She also learns that some times you cannot understand how to solve a problem until you know what the problem really is.
These lessons are taught through a fun story with great characters and even better pictures.
Like I said, we just love Clementine. Tomorrow we will begin another of her adventures and neither of us can wait!

The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
5.0
The Secret Life of Bees is a simply, wonderfully written tale of a teenaged girl looking to understand her past and heal her heart. Sue Monk Kidd does a wonderful job writing this story from the point of view of a 14 year old in South Carolina shortly after the Civil Rights Act is passed.
The tale intertwines the racial tension of the time and the powerful emotions of a girl of any age looking for answers to a question she may not want to have answered.
I felt the love and power radiating from this book and did not want to put it down. It is now one of my absolute favorites.

Motor Mouth by Janet Evanovich

I didn't realize this is book 2 in the Barnie and Hooker series until after I was about 30% of the way through. Generally that will make me stop reading until I can read the first book but the story was flowing along nicely and I didn't feel like I was mising to much.
I love Evanovich's characters so much. They just crack me up. I am looking forward to reading the frist book now!

If You Ask Me (And Of Course You Won't) by Betty White
4.0
Betty White is a riot! She had me laughing but she even got me to tear up a bit. This book is a series of short ramblings on things that are currently happening in her live mixed with a little history of what made Betty who she is. I listened to this book on my iPod. I just loved how it felt like Betty was telling me these stories directly.
I would like to read her other books!
