Both of these stories were really interesting and they made me think about real life things that they could translate to. I just wish they were longer!

- Reading a speculative fiction novel from 1993 that is set in 2024 in 2024 has been scary, jarring, and sobering. It felt so real.
- This book has been incredibly hard to read because of the graphic content but I also could not put it down. I needed to see what happened to our main character Lauren.
- I support women’s rights but I also support women’s wrong. I support Lauren and every woman in this book who did what they needed to survive a world infested with the after effect of climate change and economic crisis.
- Loved the writing style!

Enjoyed that this was creepy but interesting. Was it a ghost or just his intuition?!

-Super short, fast paced, interesting thriller. I had fun reading it.
- This one had the best clues that connected to the twist. This is definutely why I was able to guess the twist.
- Definitely the least interesting epilogue though which was disappointing.
-The anonymous thing was pretty cool but the book didn’t really give us anything “different” other than that

- I somehow admired and hated our main character, Civil. She does great work, is a good hearted person, and is passionate but she is also selfish, doesn’t know when she is overstepping, and has to have like 7 epiphanies that poor people are also equal humans to her. Her own mom was suffering and it took an aunt who didn’t even live with them to get her help because she was too busy trying to make internal amends with herself.
- I do like that the nurses who did some pretty bad things, were made to seem really human. Some of them had almost no way out because of their home life factors but they chose to do the right thing ultimately. I think this really helped to debunk moral superiority and helped us understand that people are not perfect, sometimes don’t have options, and are more than their worst mistakes.
- I wish that we got to really understand the girls more. We got a lot about them, their interests, and their personalities toward the end of the book. I wish the author gave us more time with them as individuals so what happened to them hurt personally. Obviously you felt bad for them but in the way you’d feel bad for anyone that that happened to.
- I enjoyed that while the story was focused on what happened to these two girls, they made it clear that was happened to them was not an isolated incident.
- I almost wish the whole “love triangle” “love interests” weren’t in this book because they were explored as kind of an intermission to the story.

- I enjoyed the story and following the journey that he went on
- I appreciated the lessons: follow your desires/personal legend, don’t give up even if you fail, understand connections, and trust yourself
- I think I personally didn’t LOVE it because my expectations were too high based on what I was told
- the concept felt surface level at points.

This is a really good audiobook to listen to if you are driving to work or if you are doing work around the house. It’s easy to listen to but will also keep you entertained. I didn’t see some of the twists coming.

I love that this books so easily shows how the oppressed can become the oppressors when we do not break down the roots of harmful systems.

This reads like tumblr era fan fiction. There was a twist (no pun intended) to the storyline which was entertaining but I did find this book a bit cringe at times. I can see why people are into this series though. I heard the next ones are supposed to be better.

This version really brought the novel to life. Andrew Garfield ate! It’s so scary how this gets more and more real each year.
