Year of wonders by Geraldine Brooks.
I got this book as it was recommended by some lovely person in this group. Apologies, that I can't remember who it was.
Set in 1665/6, in a small village in England. The town is infiltrated by the plague. Some stay, some leave. It follows one of the women and the year that saw death, births, new friendships and finding a way to survive.
I enjoyed this book however feel that it only skimmed the surface of some of the friendships and how they made tonics and tinctures etc. It was a fast paced book which although was nice, I would have liked it to go a little deeper in some characters. I would still recommend it as it was beautifully written, descriptive and a great story.
