This book delves into what it was to be a women in Victorian London. What was expected of them, what it was to be a lady etc. Our orphan Nora is non of these things. She has options, is intelligent and a brilliant doctor. Yet practising medicine is forbidden for women. We navigate this world of science , surgery and medical inventions. Along side frie dship, love and family.

I really enjoyed this book, I couldn't put it down. An easy and very interesting read. I laughed out loud and found myself shouting at the characters and telling them off at one point. The sign of a good book in my opinion.

I really enjoyed this book, I couldn't put it down. An easy and very interesting read. I laughed out loud and found myself shouting at the characters and telling them off at one point. The sign of a good book in my opinion.
The Secret Notebook by Julia Wild.
For the last 3 days all I wanted to do was get home from work, finish what I had to do so I could read this book. I was hooked from the first chapter. It is set in 2017 and 1944. Izzie is sent from London to Blackpool when he dearest Nan dies. Whilst going through her things she finds a note book. That's also when he boyfriend from many years ago shows up. They rekindle their friendship as together they work their way through the notebook. Discovering her nan's Secret and what it was like living in 1944.
Usually i find with split time frames one story is better than the other. Not at all with this book. I loved it from start to end. It made me laugh out loud, shout at some of the characters and cry.
A beautifully written book about love, friendship, war, family and trust. I vary rarely give 5/5 stars, but this one gets it.

This is the story of the servants of pride and prejudice. It follows the main events of pride and prejudice and is set in the Bennet household. However, we get to find out what happened below stairs in the life of the servants( including war). How they live, how they make their decisions and how important love truly is. I would describe it as Downton Abbey crossed with pride and prejudice.
