The Truths We Hold by Kamala Harris

Honestly this book was just okay. Harris has some questionable views, although she articulates her experiences exceptionally well. The last chapter is the best, and of course I reared up at the retelling of her and Doug’s story. If you’re interested, give it a read. If you’re on the fence, skip it.

A very enjoyable romp into the “only one bed” and the “enemies to friends” tropes. Not quite as steamy as people had said. Ethan is kinda a dummy when he doesn’t listen to Olive. But I absolutely sped through this book, a great beach/summer/travel read.

Love love love the style of writing in this book! It’s hard to create a new structure nowadays without it just being way too experimental and out there for me to even understand but this book did it.

Fantastic book, not really sure how accurate it is culturally but very well written and many many twists and turns that I did not expect. The drama, the family relations, the deception, the mystery, all amazing and very well done. Definitely recommend to anyone!

Such a fun romp, I want another book from Nina’s perspective. It’s a “love” story but with such a unique setting, hard to find nowadays. Love the idea of a divorce ranch, it just tickles me. Definitely recommend!

GREAT vacation/summer read. The last ~50 pages just keep you reading right up to the end. I love the shifting perspectives and the way every storyline wraps in. There are so many motives for so many people to kill that it seems impossible to guess. A wonderful murder mystery with a very obvious villain!

Wowowoowowwo this is how romcoms should be written. The structure of going back and forth from summers past to the present is awesome, the inner monologues and vulnerabilities of the two characters is realistic and helpful. A great mix of description of what’s happening and connecting past experiences to present actions.

Really really well put together, and very realistic, I would recommend this book to anyone.

A very good mystery! Right up there with girl on the train and gone girl and all those others. Would have loved to see more perspective shifts but overall an intriguing story that had me page flipping until the end.

A crazy story, sort of a hopefully-fantasy-horror story take on gentrification. I’m trying to hold onto hope that nothing in this book happens in real life, but I’m not completely convinced. True horror.
