The effectively surprising conclusion to the mystery significantly improved my perception of the book; however, the ending left several plot points unresolved. In fact, I noted unbalanced pacing throughout, despite the short chapters. Dialogue fills much of the text, contributing to the fast pace but leaving little room for descriptions of the imagery that makes a “dark academia” novel tonally distinct.
