A needy, hurt boy and a natural caretaker soul? I mean 🧎🏻♀️…it was inventible. While reading the previous books we all wondered why aren’t they together, why Dash is with someone named Syd not Stace… why is Dash so co-depended on Stacey and vice versa and what the hell happened for them to end up as they were?
Mock answers all these questions and all other ones I didn’t think I needed to be answered but got them with this book and let me tell you, I needed them too. Seeing how these boys came to live in the same house, things before even book one. This one is a special one <3.
It’s a repeat from me but the best found family is written by Mock. End of. She’s making me feral with each book for other characters and their potential HEA’s, like I need them all, the redemptions, the happiness, the all.
Dash and Stacey, have my heart. These two madly in love fools, go through it but you know what’s the most beautiful thing - they go through it together, as friends, best friends and then soulmates. From the beginning till the end standing by each other, together.
I felt like I was fighting with them for that HEA and when it snapped, let’s just say I’ve heard the angels sing - alleluja. Bravo.

But in a sea of authors I can fish out a handful of ones that feel so authentic just by the way they write. I am not going to list my sacred list of authors I will sink with ♾️. to the deep end but be sure that CE Ricci is one of them.
I will forever stand by this author. Only a few can evoke such emotions out of me by a written word. And it’s always a pleasure to be reunited with CE’s words. It’s the balance, the subtelness, the characters traits you want to coccoon and surround yourself with. It’s the hard truths, all in the details, it’s the humanity. And the tears. Yup, I will admit I didn’t think this one will call them up but there we were.

Midnight Promises is the second book in the Sinners Lament series but can be read technically as a standalone. We do met and come back to characters and places in book one, therefore I would really recommend reading book one for a better experience.
In the second installment we met (Father) Matteo and Theo who take us on a forbiddent rollercoaster full of emotion. A perfect fit, wrong in all the ways yet with an undeniable spiritual connection. How to make it work without hurting others in the process? One with a vow to God, the other with vows to Another.
We start with sadness, a friendship, a sort of kismet, giving in, a betrayal, an illicit affair that makes and breaks them. Breaking others in the process.
It isn’t my prerogative to judge or say what is right and what is wrong. Everyone has their conscience. Yet this book is a perfect example how fear, opinions and convenience plays a big role in making the first step to hurting others and hurting yourself the most.
I have to give it to the author for the last part of the book, the work put into growth before deciding what’s next. The talks, the road to redemption and being true to yourself.
Because at the end - honesty hurts but is ultimately the most rewarding.

Going into this story blindly will enhance the experience as Hawthorne is one of these authors that catch you with the written word. The words are so craftily put together to give you a sense of magic surrounding you.
In book 2 we met Ethan, Ken’s son (we met Ken in book 1) and Blue. These two made one of the warmest couples I had the chance to read about in a while. I felt like their souls just matched. The patience and understanding.
There’s one scene in this book, that I waited for since book 1 and let’s just say, a tear or two was shed. Ethan and Ken 🥹.
You will definitely enjoy this book if you love friends to lovers, being surrounded by magical forest trails, good coffee, glass blowing and all shades of Blue.

This book defends itself faultlessly on its own. I can write beautiful reviews, gushing, oohing but when a book touches me, I get very quiet. Like holding something just for me even though soon it will be out in the wild.
Scarlett writes in courageous bold letters. That’s why I will continually read her stories. I am all for people pleasing books but a book always needs a balance. I feel like Miss Drake doesn’t write books to purely please but to tell a true story, with human flaws, a bit of delicious untelling to let us guess, boys you truly start to care about and the best balance known.
So Scarlett. Achilles and Patroclus? A low blow, a low blow to our guts <3. Don’t ever drop that metaphoric pen. Thank you for a few moments of getting lost from this thing we call life.

I’M SCREECHING!!! The world and character building by Pacat has to be my favorite ever. Like ever. Ever ever ever ever ever ever and forever. If you know me you know about my obession over the Captive Prince trilogy. Dark Rise drawn me in. Like smoothly drawn in. Piece by piece. Part I is like a hauntingly beautiful map until we get to the last 30% and by then gripping the book tighter. Tighter to our chest.
I feel Will and James St. Clair will be something. Something we aren’t ready for ♾️. And I already feel it deep in my bones what they can be, what they might of been but jokes on me because I am still fucking unprepared. I know my attention here is on them but I can’t pass by all the other characters I got attached to. I love them all and they’re all important pieces in this whole world. The little family found that is forming and all the feelings around it and fears. Who am I?
