This book deals heavily with grief. A character dies by a car accident. Details are shared. Sort of spoilers but not really: Accident was due to drunk driving. Main character was driver and mother of the deceased not-yet-born child. Blame is placed on the MC, deep feelings of loneliness and suggestions of suicidal thoughts. Towards the end of book there’s a mention of a past attempt.

Main character has mental illness, past hospitalization. Alcohol use and sexual content throughout. Towards end of book there is more mention of suicidal thoughts. There is a suggestion of adult/minor relationship, but it does not actually occur. Brief description of a cut on a hand. Some light drug use (marijuana). end of book mentions pregnancy and discussion of abortion, although the character is talking about how she is not considering abortion. Two of the main characters have known each other since childhood. It was suggested that the other of the 2 had an interest in the younger of the two when she was 15 and he was 20. Although no relationship or inappropriate contact occurred.

This books is so sad and heavy. You feel the characters grief very deeply.
Content Warnings
The book focuses on grief and dives you deep into the grief and loneliness of the main character. MC mother died before start of story, deals with death of her grandfather (drowning) who cared for her since her death (15 years).
In flashback chapters: mentions of alcohol.
it is heavily suggested that the grandfather may have died by suicide. Grandfather has mental illness which becomes a main challenge for the MC to cope with and face post mortem.
