An absolutely brilliant conclusion the the world Chloe Gong created with These Violent Delights. Not only is it apparent the amount of care that goes into each character and connections between them, but also a deep understanding of writing as a craft as well as a medium for entertainment. I was especially struck by the author’s note at the end, detailing not only the Shakespeare quote that served as a guiding light through her writing, but all of the research and inspiration pulled for this universe. Chloe Gong has an insane ability to make you care for even the characters furthest on the sidelines and grounds her stories in a way that makes every reader feel as though they are standing there next to the characters.

This feels perfect for fans of Lisa Frankenstein, or anyone who wished that Veronica had joined in on JD’s fun in Heathers. This blends humor, visceral gore, and some of the best smut ever to grace my kindle together in a truly memorable and fun read.
