Was very intimidated by starting this bc of how long the book is, but I was ready to get into a new world to read about and satisfy the reading itch in my brain. I liked how the povs switched between the characters and I became invested in their stories and how it would play out. I loved the world building and the differences, myths, and legends were in the regions of the world. I honestly wished the ending was more longer than it had been, but it was a nice wrap up. I believe there is a second book in the works so I will pick that up whenever it comes.
This was so sad and I sympathized at some parts with him- def there were some parts I didn't understand and other parts were uncomfortable. I didn't know where the plot was going and how Yozo would end up. It was a fast read, but one that's confusing at times and I don't like his character.
I enjoyed this book very much and loved the characters. My favorite character has to be Ashbringer and I was so sad when Petron died. There is a lot of death tho, I was hoping they would survive to the next book, but sadly not the case.
World building was pretty great and I liked the ending and the epilogues. After the third act, the pacing was iffy for me, but the action packed stuff made up for it.
There were also errors that I found like two spaces, words repeated, and in one case another character's name used when they were not in the scene. I'm not sure if the errors are in other editions or if they were deliberate.
I didn't think I would like this book in the end, but I did. It's not a 5 star from me and some parts were uncomfy. I like the world building or some kind from what I could understand/get from reading it. I also liked reading the historical notes at the end.
Good twists - was going to write clues and figure out who the killer was beforehand but I was too engrossed in the plot to think about it. Again good twists and the ending was nice.
The book was lighthearted and interesting to read from the characters point of view and see how a character with autism would react to situations. The plot twists were what I expected but dang that family drama - I'm glad it worked out in the end tho and the book shows another perspective of a family and their troubles instead of a "perfect" family in forms of media. Rip Wellington.
