Mistress of Lies by K.M. Enright

Did not finish book. Stopped at 27%.
Got to 27%……. I really wanted to like this book. The over use of the word ‘demure’ was crazy. Even if the TikTok trend didn’t happen it still would have turned me off of the book. Especially when the fmc is supposed to be this very strong woman. I feel like the fact that the fmc needed to keep up her “image” was being referenced like every other page? It was getting a bit annoying. I was going to try to push through the book more but it just felt unfair to the author and the book itself. Hopefully I can find someone who will truly enjoy this to give the book to.

This book is AMAZING!! I ended up speeding through the second half of the book because of how intense it got!! This author has done a great job creating loveable and memorable characters! The plot of this book is amazing, and the plot twist at the end was insane. I did not see it coming at all!!!

This was an adorable book! I love how the book had Clara
figuring out her her sexuality but not putting a label on it
, I don’t tend to read those kind of books but it seems like I should! I love how different each character is when I comes to there identity and family. This books truly represented how different being queer can be for each and every person.

This is probably my favourite book of the year. I am not one to read books with pregnancy in them but I decided to take a chance with this one and I am so glad I did. The communication in this book is crazy! This book was one of the few romance books where I didn’t think “this could all be fixed if they just talked…?” Which was very refreshing to see in a book. Despite the very strange situation Bo and Win were put in they were so respectful of each other! This book was a wonderful read from start to finish.

Holly creating crazy endings as always!! I swear I was on the edge of my seat the whole book. I love how quickly Holly books gets into the intense moments, it really helps me get locked into the story. I will say … Oliver? What the hell? It feels like his character took a completely 180 turn around in the book. That’s the only part I wasn’t a big fan of? I mean I guess it makes sense since they are in a very stressful situation.

Moon Road by Sarah Leipciger

Did not finish book. Stopped at 61%.
Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada, and Sarah Leipciger for the ARC of this book to read.

Moon Road is a wonderful book about a divorced couple who have to go on a multi day road trip to help get answers to a family mystery.

I ended up DNFing at 61%… This book had wonderful detail about the scenery, and the characters were very well described. I thought the characters of Yannick and Kathleen were wonderful represented, and were very flawed which was very nice to see. Unfortunately this book was just too slow of pacing for me, it was getting to the point where the very intriguing plot just wasn’t cutting it. I plan to take a break from the book just to see if that’s what I need right now. I will update when I’ve finished the book.
