achingly, heartbreakingly beautiful.
i have no other words and i don't think words can explain well how i felt reading this bbook.
some of the best writing I've read in my life. made me unbelievably angry reading it too for the same reason.
_________
"Perhaps everybody has a garden of Eden, I don’t know; but they have scarcely seen their garden before they see the flaming sword. Then, perhaps, life only offers the choice of remembering the garden or forgetting it. Either, or: it takes strength to remember, it takes another kind of strength to forget, it takes a hero to do both. People who remember court madness through pain, the pain of the perpetually recurring death of their innocence; people who forget court another kind of madness, the madness of the denial of pain and the hatred of innocence; and the world is mostly divided between madmen who remember and madmen who forget. Heroes are rare."

loved it !! started it less than 3 hours ago and ate it uuup!! the story flew easily, dialogue was really good, there was a plot and imagine that !!!! no break-up part at about 75% of the book like usually!!! bc the characters actually communicated their feelings!!!!
but anyways, such an enjoyable read and luke and emmy were ao cute :((
(suuuuuper excited to see how gus and teddy's relationship will be hehehehe)

genuinely so so funny and entertaining. i had so much fun reading it, especially at the beginning and then at the end it got so emotional my heart kinda clenched in pain.
loved how the story progressed. in the beginning i was kinda worried nicholas was truly just an idiot but later on when you got his side od the story you could see both he and naomi were at fault. and that made them getting together even better.
i truly loved this. just the kind of contemporary romance book i have been looking for.
"What about the straw wrapper bracelet? He kept it. What a nothing thing that I made. What a nothing thing that he kept."
“Relearning you has been the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

"You're in a car with a beautiful boy, and you're trying not to tell him that you love him, and you're trying to choke down the feeling. And you're trembling, but he reaches over and he touches you, like a prayer for which no words exist, and you feel your heart taking root in your body, like you've discovered something something you don't even have a name for."

i've listened to the audiobook narrated by the author herself over the course of few weeks, in intervals of 15-20minutes while falling alseep, washing the dishes, cleaning the apartment etc... i was lured in by the title of the book, curious to see what was hiding behind it and boy was i in for a ride...
i had no knowledge who jennette was. i vaguely recognised her from some local magazines from teenagers we had here when i was younger, but i never watched iCarly now did i ever consume some of the music she apparently made.
the trigger warnings i put just barely covered everything this woman had went through??? her mother was manipulative, almond mom, who introduced her to calorie counting at just an 11 years old... eleven. she sexually abused her since she was 11 until she was 16 if i recall correctly. forced her into acting, forced her into just shutting up and listening to her every word, blamed her for all her problems, blamed everyone but herself. that woman was a psychopath. and even after she died she continued to hunt her, which caused jennette to be severely bulimic, to the point she lost a moral to all the stomach acid she was throwing up over and over again.
her recovery was long, and she is still going through one.
book is divided into 2 parts, while she was a kid and her mother was alive, and later on after her mother's death where she struggled with a lot more than just the leftovers of her mother's abuse.
it was an emotional read. many times i had to pause to collect my thoughts or i let out some verbal forms of disgust while listening to the audiobook, and for most of it i was in disbelief what was going on in her life. but i also laughed at occasions to be fair. she managed to put some humor in it without making it tacky.
at the end, im glad she managed to free herself of her mother. because no one deserved the emotional physical and sexual abuse she had to suffer because of her own mother.
this was just a very raw, not sugar coated at all autobiography of a young kid. and to think she is only 30 years old and has already suffered through so much. and yes, the title of the book is very justifiable.

this was so good actually. read it in one sitting in like 4 hours. cal and eli truly are each other's love of their lives :")) my heart hurted at some parts seeing how much they've missed and pined for each other over the year and i was frustrated with how long it took them but its obviously that they needed that time. i loved it honestly. wished we got more of them just being in love and happy but otherwise it was a very enjoyable read in my opinion. will definitely be checking out the rest of the books in this series.
