Cara is a people pleaser and wants other people to trust and lean on her. She feels that the only way other people will like her is if she is perfect, happy, smiling, funny and outgoing. So she wears a mask. The one she uses, to pretend she is and fells always ok. But it also means not many people really know the real Cara. When she is forced to change some things in her life she decides to do a road trip. In this journey she has a bucket list but secretly doesn't want to do it alone. So when her best friend corners her brother into taking her she can't help but be secretly pleased. So whay if she has a crush on him?
Manny was just perfect. A man successful, acomplished, driven. Who loves hard, but has been treated like he was not enough by other women because of his looks or money.
When he decides to go with Cara he is doing something he usually doen't do. But he puts her first and is willing to try to turn off 'business Manuel' into laid back Manny for her. To give her what she needs so much. He had a crush on her sinse forever, so a couple of weeks together couldn't do any harm, right?
We could see from the beggining that he was so, so deeply in love with her and my heart broke so many times when he did it all but still she couldn't see it. She hurted him (not on purpose though) so many times, but he kept pushing and waiting and giving her time. He was so sweet and perfect. I loved his character.
I really liked how they both complemented each other and through their love to one another helped each other heal.
I really like Jo' rom-com's. They make me laugh out loud several times and have such a good vibe that always makes me smile.
I really liked both characters.
Ash was an independent woman, with a successfull carreer, with good friends, but really and I mean really unlucky when it comes to s*x. She actually thinks she must have some kind of curse with all the things that happened over the years when it comes to intimate times. And it's all because of her first love.
Max is a sweet and caring man, that after having to help his mother returns home and finds Ash again. After one disaster night when they were tennagers he went away, but regret is always there about it. And so many what ifs.
When he realises he is still in love with her, he goes all the way to woo her back. They have a bumpy road, and will they give their feelings another chance?
I really liked Max. He was such a sweethart. We could tell how much he cared and went out of his way to make sure she was alright and to make her happy.
This story was about self discovery and finding your self worth.
Lottie is a young woman who's parents have always tried to push her in the direction they deemed worth pursuing. It never mattered that she wasn't happy or accomplished. And for a while she complied. Until her breaking point, when she decides it is enough and goes to the city and stays with her sister.
There she starts to realise what family (both by blood and by choice means), and slowly starts to find herself, her voice and her story.
She also meets Gio, her sister's best friend, who is attracted to her from day one, but is also one of the most sweet and patient men known. He starts by being her friend and step by step becomes irreplaceable in her life.
We can relate very well to both main characters and grow very fond of them. Also, their support system is amazing.
It is a sweet story that makes us think and reflect about ourselves while we see Lottie grow.
This was a short and extremely spicy story about a doctor and her patient and the attraction between them.
When Jessica goes to her anual routine exam the last thing she expects is to be attracted to he (very hot) doctor.
Adam is a Gyno Doctor and is very popular with the ladies. When he enters that exam room he didn't expect to see her. One of his highschool crush.
Some lines blur in that exam room, and then they decide to take attraction to the outside. But is it only physical?
It has a bit of suspense and ends in a pretty cliffhanger to give us that need to know what comes next.
The story revolves around grief and the pain and despair that comes with it, no matter the reason. It shows how it can swallow you whole, and like moving sand can bury you alive.
But it also shows hope. It shows in a completly raw way how it can make you come alive with small things and gestures. How you can change and start to appreciate those moments that are worth living for. How precious it is to be seen.
In this book the author summarizes all those moments and feelings. The grief, the angst, pain and at the same time so much hope. The hope to stay in the past and at the same time the hope of something new.
The author has a way of making you really feel. And oh boy I felt so much in this book. I could relate through her words to these characters and felt my heart break a little but also felt them heal and being fix afterwords.
Yes, it revolves around some heavy subjects, but it is an amazing story.
I loved both characters. Melody by being just a little bit of what we all need: the good, the optimism, a little ray of sunshine even through her grief. And Parker, with all his fellings of unworthiness, social awkwardness and grumpiness but with such an good heart underneath. He definitely had the Right Heart.
They complemented each other and through their relationship we could see that not all our previous thoughts and preconceptions have to go as planed to find our happy place. They were all they never thought they wanted or needed, but ended up being all they really deserved.
It was an emotional ride that I only regret not having experienced sooner.
Emma and Auston's story was the perfect way to end this series.
Emma is a bookstore owner with a black cat attitude. She is a little grumpy but is loyal, caring and an excelent friend. She sworn off love after a previous bad experience and experiences love through her books.
Auston is a famous actor. He has it all, but he feels like there's something missing.
When they start shooting his movie in Emma's bookstore they realise that they not also know each other, but they have history. But, they are bigger than that and not only work together but also end up in a fake relationship to help him get rid of a woman who just can't take a no.
What was once fake clearly ignites and becames a lot real.
But they are living opposite worlds and realities. How can they cope and compromise? Will it work?
I really liked Auston. He was such a sweet man. Nothing like we would have expected by a celebrity. I loved how much he cared for Emma and how much he was willing to do to make her happy.
I also liked the small town vibe this neighborhood gives. I can't wait for the spin off.
I love this team!
Since the previous one I've been wanting to get to know the other players story and I'm so glad I coul enjoy Smithy's right now!
This whole team is like a big family and in my oppinion it's one of the best things about it. We not only love the main characters, but all the surrounding ones also, and their interaction in the story is so present that draws us in and makes us want to be there with them.
As I've made clear I've really liked Liliana and Smithy's story. P
They are best friends since forever and have feelings for one another from the begginjng. They don't act upon them with fear to lose each other. But they are the only ones who don't really see what's right in front of them.
When Liliana starts being closer to the team due to an assignment in her reporting job Smithy realises he has to do something. But how? And how will she react? Could he lose her?
I truly enjoyed this story! It was my first book by this author and I'm sure it won't be the last.
I really liked her writing style and how she developed both the story and characters.
There was so much character development in this story and I loved it! We could watch them evolve and grow throughout the book.
Bridget was kind of a socially awkward nerd, that had little social skills. Maybe her uprising had something to do with that, but she always felt that she didn't need other people.
Giles came from a family of doctors and was following his parents steps, but he made sure to enjoy life and women. If he could have it (and them) all, why not?
When they are forced to work together some might think it was a recipe for disaster. Both of them thought that on several ocasions. But what if Bridget's drive and ambition started to influence Giles in a way where he started to care more and try to be a better student and doctor? And what if Giles laid back personality and social skills started to open Bridget up in a way that she started enjoying other people's company and began having friends and not only living for her work?
And then their perspective on life, other people, friends and love turned 180°. But in such a good way!!
I found myself glued to the pages rooting for them as a couple and I really (and I mean really) liked Giles. He was a sweethart to the core, even if at first he didn't seem kne. He was a gooey marshmallow always trying to make sure she was safe, happy, and even loved. I adored him.
I loved seeing them change and interact and open up to each other. It was such a good love story!
I'll be reading more about this family for sure!
Elma and Armin's story begins in a true enemies to lovers way. They can't stand each other and are very open to express that dislike for one another. Their banter and pettiness is funny and spot on. Through out the story all that hate starts shifting. First into lust and desire (and it sure is spicy), and then slowly some feelings come into the mix and love starts growing.
We can see their traumas and how they shaped them and how even as adults they continue to fight all those demons. With each others help they start feeling stronger and accepting their past.
I liked both main characters and how even being fierce and strong showed both compation and emotions and love to others. They had a strong community and support system and that was really transparent in the book.
This story aproaches some heavier topics, so bear that in mind and check the TW first.
I loved this book, as well as all of this series. Hell.. I love all of Nyssa's books, and this one was surely not an exception!
Callie had her world shaken when her relationship with Lock ended. She lost him and then had more losses in the little time after the breakup that made her leave her small town and focus on herself. After a few years she returns, better, and opens her own yoga studio and life is good for her. If only she had him..
Lock return to his home town with one thing in mind: to win callie back. He never stoped loving her, and is willing to do all he can to hever her back.
Of course, there is a lot of unfinished business, and she was hurt badly by him in the breakup. So he starts to gain her trust. And when she is put in danger he goes all protective to make sure she is alright.
She has a stalker, and at first it was a bit harmless, but then things quickly excalated and the suspense was palpable! And that twist letting us know who it was? I did not see that coming!
Both main characters were so down to earth and relatable that I was rooting for them since the beggining. I could understand both points of view, and wanted them to get on the same page stat.
I also enjoyed to read about the previous characters, mainly the brothers. That bond and brothergood and the way the author relates those connections are priceless.
I also enjoyed Aspen's side character (and was very pleased to know she will have her story next). Who wouldn't want to have a friend like her?
I'm sad to see these characters and this small town go. But I'm sure that Amber Ridge is going to be just as awsome!
