Sucker Punch: Essays by Scaachi Koul

An entertaining essay collection leaning into dark humor, mainly about Scaachi’s divorce. Chocolate, Lime Juice, Ice Cream was my favorite essay and one that I think any millennial women (maybe all women) can relate to about the ways we & society hardly judge our bodies.

Of course knew this would be a bit of a hit piece on the Kennedy’s based on the synopsis but whew these men were really out here being the worst (I say this as someone who stans Bobby Kennedy and think he would have changed the trajectory of America for the better)

Loved the plot, but sometimes felt the characters voices were disjointed from their generation.

I can only describe Broken Country as a crescendo - in the beginning, I wasn’t sure where it was going, except that there was clearly a love triangle and heartbreak. But small details are slowly revealed and it soon builds to a point where I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.

With short chapters and a relatively short length, this book packs a punch. I imagine it will be a book club pick for March and will be a highly talked about book in 2025.
