I wasnt expecting to love this book as much as I did. It completely blew my expectations out of the water. I've only read a couple superhero books, one of which were the Black Widow books and Black Widow is one of my all time favorite heros and I was severely disappointed in that series, so I was wary when starting this book. Especially since I think most DC stories are meh
But this was so so well done. I've never read any of Sarah's books though I mean to so I didnt know about how I'd like her writing, but she did an amazing job. The fight scenes were simple and elegant and easy to picture, yet totally badass and exciting. The characters and relationships were so much fun and real and easy to get invested in. The emotions ran deep and it definitely made me feel a good several of times. And the plot is one of my favorite parts because it had its twists and turns and was mysterious yet it was simple and easy to understand and follow along.
And the Poison Ivy/Harley/Catwoman team?? Absolutely amazing omg. And Luke and Catwoman and their game of cat and mouse ahhh I loved it.
Highly highly reccomend this book!!!

The main character, Monty, is a bisexual man, and it takes place in the 1800's, so naturally he runs into some big problems with that one. He's the son of an Earl in London and he's kind of a privileged snot, but he's a really fun witty privileged snot, who also has personal shit and trauma to deal with, so you can't help but love him.

Him and his best friend Percy, who Monty is secretly in love with, and also is a black man who he's also plenty of personal trauma and problems to spare, are supposed to tour the continent for the year, before he's expected to come home, grow up, settle down and run his father's estate. His sister, Felicity, is supposed to be with them for a month or so before she's meant to go to school, and she's a total badass. But things go amuck and, basically Monty ropes them into trouble, causing their tour to go awry and become quite the trip.

It's a mix of a historical fiction and an adventure novel with great writing, complex characters and quick wit and I really loved it.

I give it 3.5 and only because I quite enjoyed the cute little ending. But honestly the book was pretty weak and quiet a disappointment. Abigail barely had a personality, and she was the one telling the damn story. She didnt do anything worth while and honestly almost all of them are one dimensional, even Jackaby and hes the only one who is actually interesting. And ya know that's fine whatever, you want an eccentric fun paranormal version of sherlock then that's great, run with it, but dont add a damned woman character, make her your main character who's telling the story from a first person pov just to make her bland af and focus on him and his awesome eccentric geniusness the whole damn time.
I was really disappointed with that. The concept is really cool, the plot was on the predictable side but still interesting, but characters drive a story, and these characters were flat and boring.
Seriously it would have been so much better if the writer could've just made Abigail a bit more capable of literally anything. Like jackaby seriously wanted to hire her because she noticed mail box numbers? She didn't need to be a genius or some warrior in order to have SOME redeeming qualities or skills and be at least somewhat useful, but no the most she did was fake faint and barely toss some books at a guy. I'm seriously mad I was so looking forward to this series.
I was going to give it 2.5 but gave it one more only because the ending was quite sweet and I enjoyed it. I doubt however that I'll be reading any more of these.

This was my favorite of the series I think, it was super cute but also felt real in a way. And I thought this one was written cleaner, the story was mapped out and didnt feel as messy as the first book. Either way I thoroughly enjoyed the series and love me some Peter K and Lara Jean Covey.
