I was so excited for this series, and it did not disappoint. I was highlighting quotes practically on every other page. It was a bit light compared to some of the other plot lines in her books, but it felt like a good set up for the rest of the series, and most importantly it felt like pure Magnus and Alec. Magnus especially really came to life and I found myself loving everything he said, and the love between them lit me up. I devoured this book and anyone who's always loved the two of them and their wonderful relationship, should immensely enjoy this lovely book. I cannot wait for the rest of them.
This was a fun read! As someone who's only watched the newest movie adaptation, I'd been increasingly in love with a Laurie and Jo ship and this book was a fun exploration of that. I particularly liked the ending, it was cute and done really well.
I also loved the historical notes in the end, the bits that the explained were taken straight from the book, parts that were implied/mentioned in book that they dove into more deeply, and especially the parts taken from the original authors actual life and letters and incorporated them into Jo's character given how much Jo had resembled the original author from the beginning.

This was a fun and enjoyable book, not quite what I had been expecting but I liked it. The beginning of the romance really gripped me, the banter between the characters felt perfect.
I was expecting the Annabelle to be more calculating in her dealings with me, however. It started that way with her cousin but it felt like that was quickly lost and she was constantly at the whim of the men around her which is not what I had been expecting from the book and brought the experience down for me personally.
I still enjoyed the story overall and it was interesting and had a good ending.
