This book sucked me in with the characters and the concept of the story, the tone and the underlying themes of being in fight of survival and working against cultural norms of privilege and classism. The writing itself started out a little clunky in my opinion, their was a lot of rambling info dumping that didn't flow very well.
After the first 50 pages it seemed to find its stride, as well as get into the details so that the story began flowing with the writing style. If I hadn't pushed to get through the rough beginning I could have easily lost interest in the book. But I'm very very glad I didn't because I am truly in love with Galadriel and Orion and the way she carved out a place for herself, the way they are two sides of the same coin and found a balance with each other. The principals that El has and sticks by that are so relatable and the way she does it out of spite, I loved the story and the characters and it definitely out weighed any writing issues.
