I never got to read this book when I was in middle school. So here I am, reading it now as I approach my 30s, and I'm glad I did. Sure, it was a quick read, but I enjoyed being in the mind of a young kid viewing the world. To compare what was being described to my own childhood, it made for a nice processing exercise.

The book itself is heavy on the LGB- side and there's a few instances of the T, but more or less the book is very heavy on the binary side. It's an okay book to give to someone who perhaps is just starting to learn this subject (young teen, parents and professionals who deal with young teens) but I feel that for a book that was written in the mid 2010s, it's already kinda outdated! The one chapter that definitely disconnected me from the book is the "Gay Patron Saints" where it lists a bunch of celebrities as I am very lacking in pop culture knowledge.
