i…. don’t know how i feel about this one

it seems as though the author only wrote this book because she came up with it’s plot twist and thought it was brilliant.
the story is around the plot twist, not the other way around, and that’s why 85% of the book is boring and forgettable, that’s why *all* of the characters are weird and basic : she didn’t even try to develop anything else other than the "grand finale" because that’s all the readers would remember and that’s sad.

and the writing style? …… ? ? ?

WAAAAAAAR IS OOOOVEEEEER!!

i can't believe this got published, not because there's a lot of smut and therefore "shocking" and "scandalous" to the eyes of the 1920's era, but just because it's terribly and horribly boring AND disgusting; why would you as a publisher want people this piece of trash?? why?

"you found it appalling? it came out in 1928 what did you expect?"well too much apparently!

so much for wanting to read the book before watching the movie adaptation............

i couldn't read whatever page was next during the last two (and a half, iykyk) sections without taking a tiny (or huge, depending on the said page) break to pull myself together and try to stop crying.

gosh i would love to write a novel like this one someday, to have an imagination as big as TJR's and come up with an 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘳𝘦 brilliantly detailed story like this book's.
i think this just confirmed me that historical fiction is one of my favorite genres and that i need to explore it much much 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 more.

DAISY JONES & THE SIX (the band) would not only be nothing without it's main singer daisy jones and it's keyboardist karen karen, but also without simone jackson, camilla dunne and her three daughters : julia, maria and susana.
sisterhood is a theme deeply important to me, so to read about all of those women changing each other's lives for better or worse, supporting each other and simply...impacting each other's lives one way or another, with one sentence or with an entire speech, moved me in the best way possible and reminded me how sacred and crucial female friendships are.

i'm so so sad but so so happy to have listened to the people who recommended this novel and now have turned into one of those people.
read this book, if not for goodness sake then for mine.
(and yes i read the extra emails TJR posted on insta....she had no right crushing my heart even more ferociously like that!)
