The Star Garden: A Novel of Sarah Agnes Prine by Nancy E. Turner
5.0
Often times a sequel to a beloved book disappoints by not living up to the magic of the original book. That is not the case with The Star Garden! I was hooked from page one, and this book didn't let up on its grip until the very last page! I'm so sad that my journey with these characters is done, but I know I'll think of them often in the weeks to come!
The Giver by Lois Lowry

I can't believe I waited this long to read The Giver! I can understand why it's such a beloved book, and it was well worth the read!
All Fall Down by Jennifer Weiner

This book shines a light on the topic of addiction, and while I can't say I've ever been addicted to drugs or alcohol, it seemed like a very honest, accurate portrayal of what an addiction to painkillers can do to you and your family.
Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver

Another really wonderful read by Barbara Kingsolver! The way she weaves people's lives together and shows connections to the world around us is beautiful and inspiring!

A short, easy read full of interesting characters that takes place in the best of all places, a bookstore! This novel offers a little something for everyone!
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

A beautiful story of two sisters and how they survived in Nazi-occupied France during World War II. The story is both exciting and heart-breaking and I couldn't put it down!
You Know Who I Am by Diane Patterson

I'm glad this book was free because it was nothing exciting or ground-breaking! It was just okay as a mystery, and I doubt I'll read the sequel!
The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo
4.0
There is a lot in this book that appeals to me. The idea that tidying has to begin with decluttering and getting rid of anything that does not bring you joy may seem simple, but it makes a great deal of sense to me. I can definitely see how, by following the process described in the book, your thinking and mindset would be permanently changed for the better. I'm not quite sure how I feel about the idea of thanking my possessions at the end of each day, but I'm willing to give it a try. One of these days when I truly feel ready to apply the methods described in this book, I will do it.
The Gauguin Connection by Estelle Ryan

At times confusing, I did really enjoy the story and unique characters! I received the book for free, and will definitely read the next one!
Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
5.0
I almost never read this book because I've seen, and loved, the movie so many times. I'm so very glad I finally read this book! It was so beautifully written that, as in all good books, the characters came alive and were with me constantly! The descriptions of Japan and Japanese culture produced in me a strong desire to visit Japan one day. This book was absolutely worth every moment I spent reading it!
