This book felt like it should have have been the first 100 pages of a much longer and more interesting book. As it stands, I thought it was boring... too much lusting and too little plot for the length of the book.
Graphic: Physical abuse
The way the book described an overweight child, who is obviously the victim of domestic abuse, didn't sit well with me.

What a treat of a book! I loved all of the character, the mysterious settin, and the way the story grapples with legacy and complicated histories. It's a haunted house book that's really more about haunted communities and what happens when we can't be honest about the stories we tell ourselves. So good!

Gosh, what a beautiful, sad, big-hearted book. As a young widow, I found so much that I related to in this story. But I have to imagine other people who have lost loved ones will find a lot that resonates too. Gorgeous.
