I have been so busy recently so it may be a big factor but this is kinda the best graphic novel I’ve ever read. I hope one day this got adapted into something like Nimona

I actually have fun with this. The romance or the potential of it carried because this is the first time I’m interested in both sides. Granted I’m more into Aaron Oliver’s instead of Nick’s but I like both of their romance with Joan.

I think the worldbuilding and the magic system are pretty weak but I still enjoyed this a lot. I hope the second book is just as good

Cute age gap romance. Thankfully this is Josei so there’s no weird problematic age gap like in Shoujo where 27 years old men will get together with a 14 years old school girl and the fans will just accepted it because the art is pretty.

This is a nice romance to read when you’re in the mood of something easy with no drama.

I felt bad for Chloe Gong so I’m just gonna DNF this without rating. Hopefully she’ll improve for her next book

I’ll watch the tv adaptation first

This man in delusional. How is it your father’s friend fault for not helping you in your misfortune?? Like, yeah sorry that happened to you but that not his obligation. Also I can just tell that the author is the type of romance author that relies heavily on sex and smut to carry her romance. This will definitely be another 3 stars read at best

I don’t really get a romantic vibes between our two leads tbh. It’s probably because tthey spent way too much time thinking about other people and less on their growing feelings for each other. I actually don’t remember when they started feeling different to each other because they are still thinking of other characters at 78% of the book.

Anyway other than that problem, I‘m pretty sure I have watched a romcom movie with these exact premise before. I don’t hate it but I don’t love it either. I can easily imagined this getting adapted into a nice sapphic romcom that the internet will be happy about for a day before moving on.
Diverse cast of characters: No

Sherry Thomas might become one of my favourite author when it comes to historical romance. I put off reading her other books after a terrible first impression and I genuinely regret it. I wish I wasn’t deterred by the top negative review at Goodreads (after reading it for myself, I wonder if we even read the same book).

Other than the end where things got resolved very fast and easily (seems to be a recurring problem in historical romance genre anyway), I really like everything about this book. I guess if I wish to add anything, it would be more bonding moments between the leads.

I’ll definitely be reading more of Sherry Thomas.
