The Worst Kept Secret by Q.B. Tyler
2.0
I did not enjoy this one as much as the first. It was another one with hardly any plot and lots of sex scenes which sadly didn't really move the plot forward much. As much as I liked Theo as a character, I really didn't like Avery and I'm not sure why. I just didn't care about their dilemma which was easy to solve, I won't be continuing the series.
The Season of Secrets by Q.B. Tyler
3.5
I enjoyed this on and it was hot but it was very, very snutty and it didn't really add anything to move the plot along. Considering it was only 232 pages it felt like a huge slog.
The best part was Wes, everything about him was hot and the fact that he was all about honesty and even when he did something he said he wouldn't do, he didn't lie about it, which is a green flag in my opinion.

Ruthless Stranger by Maggie Cole
2.5
I enjoyed this one, it was a fairly quick read. However there isn't a whole lot ruthless going on and we never see anything and the only time the stranger thing applies with when they first meet. Despite Aspen remarking on their second night (still strangers with her blindfolded) about him "feeling dangerous" ...
Overall Aspen is naive and annoying, but Maxsim is also annoying but simply because he automatically assumes the worst and shuts down when Aspen takes more than 2 seconds to process heavy information he gives her. This actually caused a huge issue between them, the usual she leaves leave and he regrets what he said type of thing. But Aspen is all "he dumped me" but she's rhe one that walked out so like... Pot meet kettle?! Aspen in general is relatable but it's not good, she doesn't know how to ask questions and it causes issues because shes super worried he'll hate her and want his ex back despite him only ever telling Aspen one time and her showing up out of the blue...
I have zero interest in continuing the series or the other characters. Her friends whilst being supportive of her are irritating, especially at the beginning.
Overall underwhelming and boring really.

Touch Her and Die by Jolie Vines

I enjoyed this one, but honestly the best part was all the Scottish people. I love a Scottish accent and Ben was totally flawed but hot as hell anyway. Daisy is swert but a little naive but also wuick to give up it makes her very relateable and flawed.
Sun Crossed by Elizabeth Briggs
3.0
I did not enjoy this one as much at all. Kaydens decent into darkness (which screams Sun Witch magic to me) was hard to watch because Ayla floundered as to what to do and caved a bit too easily. I do wonder if him removing her mark and banishing her in his anger and darkness was his wake up call from the magic and he realised exactly what he'd done, rather than it just being him angry at the fact the Leo's weren't around, because that just doesn't make sense to me, for him to be *that* angry. I'm glad Ayla left because it allowed her to grow more as character and realise that despite being banished the Ophicus pack is her home and family and she has never had that before, it was also good that she got to know Jordan a bit better as family rather than being at odds. I disagree with Jordan about neither of his fathers being a good influence and him always being destined to be a villain, because look at Wesley, he grew up under Harrison and was treated a lot more fairly and I think he would have treated Jordan better too. However it is clear that Dixon could never have been a good father if only because he knew the kids weren't his and that has to be devestating. I do wosh we'd got to meet Jordans brother Griffin, because that would be a whole new dimension to Jordan's storyline.
It was nice to see Celeste again however briefly she appeared, it was nice that she let Ayla know when her birthday actually is rather than what Harrison told her.
As much as I'm intrigued to see how the story ends in the next book I'm not as enthusiastic as I was at the end of the previous book. And then I realised there a collection of shorts from the universe as well, not sure how I feel about that.

Star Cursed by Elizabeth Briggs

I enjoyed this one much more than the first, if simply because of Kayden and Ayla's relationship. I almost squealed in joy when Kayden brought up the first time they met and that he knew they were mates immediately - exactly what I said for book 1! I also loved the fact that Ayla automatically protected Kayden during the alpha match and how pleased Kayden was with how she acted. I also liked how we saw more of Ayla's character growth with the encounter with Eileen and the other packs respite they was some of them act.
I did remember the moon witches involvement but I couldn't remember how it played out and turns out I completely forgot about what happened at the end, even though I was waiting for them to appear.
There was a small scene that bothered me early on when Ayla was with the Leo's, Jordan passed Ayla food through the bars on a paper plate then a page later she says the cutlery is plastic like the plate 🤣
